An interesting thread on Etsy tonight about using Flickr to generate leads for Etsy shops. What do you think? What has been your experience?

Haven't read the thread, but have been meaning to put stuff on Flickr -- I do have an account...but yolu know, there's just so many hours in the day..... :]

I have a flickr page for Paisley Baby and it has certainly brought traffic to my site. So far no sales though :-(

I have a Flickr - folkartbycampbelljane. It has brought attention to my art, however, not sure of any sales from it as of yet. I received a couple of awards from groups so that was exciting!

I've had a few people from Flickr mark my things a "favorite" but as for generating leads I haven't had that experience. I have a number of photos and slideshows also. I use it to display my past work and also my commission work since I can't show that on Esty....I have the Flickr slideshow on my blog sidebar but really like the SLIDE program too...

I have been on Flickr a while -

I have definitely noticed more views in my etsy shop when I post an item on Flickr, and I know at least 2 sales have come from there. I do think it's worthwhile having a Flickr account - after all, the more people who see your work the better!
Feel free to add me too - I love new Flickr friends!

I just recently opened a flickr account. I've met a few people and had some views, but it's too early to tell if it will help sales or not. It's still kind of fun even if it doesn't help out.

Hi Amy! I have a Flickr account, but I haven't really been as active with it as I'd like to. I have heard from multiple people that customers found their Etsy shops via pictures on Flickr, so it must work!

Yes, I flickr! You can find me at junkstylediva; I also moderate a group called Junk Divas. It is open to anyone who makes art from recycled materials or has photos of artist stuff that may seem like junk to others but has an artistic feel. Inge

I've been on flickr for a while and haven't had near as much response from it as others here -- looks like I'll have to try a few new things!

I don't flickr. People are out there copying your pics of anything you place on the web, including your website or etsy and eBay. If you design images, tags, graphics, cards, clothing, crafts or artwork of any kind YOUR images are being taken and distributed throughout the internet free for the taking without notice to you.

PLEASE take the time to educate yourself on copyright. Your images are YOURS and should not be taken without your permission and most certainly should not be taken, used to make money for someone else while that someone else takes the credit for the image.

Here is some information you all may be interested in:

Polyvore.com is an online site meant to be used by fashion designers. Because of it's software it allows users to steal images from all over the internet - INCLUDING YOURS - and once it is placed on their site the image becomes property of Polyvore.com and they can use it for advertising, print work, etc. with no credit or financial payment to you.

This means if you handpainted a canvas or a piece of furniture that image of that can be taken without your permission and used by anyone else on the internet. Other people can then easily copy your original works and TAKE CREDIT FOR THEM. The possibilities of how many ways your images can be used to rip you off are endless. How would you like to see a picture of your child used on another website that perhaps has a "questionable" business. Or perhaps that handpainted work of art you are selling for hundreds of dollars used to make another image that someone from polyvore can make money off of or someone can steal the image from Polyvore and make money from it. Many unethical designers and other "bad people" go to polyvore to use their program in order to steal images.

Search this site to see if any of your pics, ideas, creations or website pics are there: http://www.polyvore.com/ just type in your name, website name, etc., and see, you might be surprised!

Also, read this link: http://uncommondepth.blogspot.com/2009/01/david-and-golithe-or-figh...

there is a petition you can sign here: http://www.gopetition.com/online/24378.html

I signed it, these people need to be stopped and you can help by reading and signing petition.
