I recently made a new
Marmalade Pink friend,
Leslie of
Leslie Janson, who was wondering how to create a Treasury on
Etsy so I thought I'd do my best to describe the process.
When you visit the front page of
Etsy you'll see a selection of 12 squares of merchandise available for sale from various Etsy boutiques. These 12 squares called Treasuries and are created by different Etsy shop owners, aka Etsians.
To view the list of Treasuries you you click on "Treasury" found on the front page of Etsy, second choice from the top on the left hand side. It takes a while to load as Etsy uses a special interactive program on these pages. There you'll see a list of all the current Treasuries where you can leave comments and click on different items to

discover new merchandise and sellers. The creator or "curator" of the Treasury is listed at the top right and you're also able to click through on their name to view their shop.
On the top and bottom of the page is a count of how many Treasuries currently exist. If the Treasury lists exceed 333 then down at the bottom a statement will tell you that the Treasury is full. At first glance this can seem like a hopeless situation as the count is often far greater than 333 but there is a trick...
By clicking on the arrow next to "Expiration" found at the top of the page you can change the view to sort by the soonest expiration dates. Since each page holds 20 Treasuries you can calculate when the next Treasuries might be available and thereby increase your changes of snagging a Treasury. As long as you're on the Treasury pages when the number goes below 333, you'll get a Treasury.
An example of the math: At the time I'm writing this there are 540 lists. With 20 Treasuries per page I calculate that in approximately 48 hours the number will dip below 333 and I can create a new Treasury. It's easier to calculate when the number is lower for example 334 - 400 but it does give you a rough idea of when to check back for availability.
So lets say you're on the Treasury page and the number is getting low. You've counted the pages and it appears that a Treasury will be available in about an hour. The first thing to do is STAY put. Waiting on a Treasury page for one to become available is like standing in line; if you refresh the page or leave and then return, it's the same as walking to the end of the line. While you wait it's an excellent time to think of a title for your Treasury as this is the first thing you'll be asked t

o do. You might also want to open another browser and peruse you're Etsy favorites, thinking of a possible color scheme or theme. The next thing you'll want to do is be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the Treasury page as this is where the screen will change once a Treasury is available. You can actually sit and watch the numbers click down... 335...334... 333... Sometimes there's a lag but keep waiting and a block will appear where you can type in your title.
Once your title has been saved a group of 16 boxes will appear on your screen. The 12 in the middle will be your primary Treasury and the 4 along the right side are hidden from the public. To fill in the blanks you'll find the item number on the merchandise page and

insert that number into the box in the square. Filling up the squares in the most fun to me as I enjoy watching the Treasury take shape. One thing I learned and you may want to do is to disable the comments prior to putting in any merchandise in. This enables you to leave the first comment and you can enable the comments once you've completed working on your Treasury. There's also a place to leave a comment under the title if you wish to include any explanations for your treasury and don't forget to fill in where you're from if you'd like a link to your blog our outside website.
I think that's about it... If I've forgotten anything please feel free to leave a helpful comment. :) For more information of Etsy Treasuries you can visit Etsy's description on how to make a Treasury by

Best!
