Marmalade Pink

Indie Businesses and Socially Conscious Shoppers ComingTogether

This month's book is a bit longer then normal so we are giving ourselves until the end of June to read it.
I asked if we could read this book because I am trying to immerse myself in Italy for some paintings I am working on.

****************************************

The acclaimed author of Servant of the Bones makes real for us the exquisite and otherworldly society of the eighteenth-century castrati, the delicate and alluring male sopranos whose graceful bodies and glorious voices brought them the adulation of the royal courts and grand opera houses of Europe, men who lived as idols, concealing their pain as they were adored as angels, yet shunned as half men.

Um, the title seems to be missing from your post. The book is Cry to Heaven by Anne Rice. I'm going to go try and find a used copy today.

LOL! You are right. Lack of multi-tasking? I got a copy last night since I couldn't find the original one I had. I read the first 10 pages or so and forgotten how graphic it is. Of course it is an Anne Rice novel.

I actually have not read any Anne Rice novels, or at least any that she wrote under Anne Rice. I read the first in her erotica series about Sleeping Beauty - that was was graphic.

I read Sleeping Beauty years ago and if I remember correctly it was graphic.

So, she had the first Vampire Chronicle book that I loved. I thought it was well written. Then she became famous and started cranking out books about every 60 days and that seems to be when her writing went down hill. I kept reading for awhile and found Cry to Heaven and another one about the Mayfair Witches that scared the *&^&^%$$# out of me. I can't remember its name though. Anyway, most of her books that she cranked out I am not a fan of because I think her writing wasn't very good.

Sounds good. Maybe for July we can pick a short book so everyone will have time to catch up.

Since I am only 1/2 way through the book I won't be done either. *sigh* It's been a long and tedious month.

Anyway, we can pick a short book if you all would like for July or I'm open to anything. ???

It's been a long tedious month for me, too. Let's find something light-hearted for July. Anyone have any good suggestions?

Long. Tedious and just sort of *ugh*. Hmmm....I'll look around for something light hearted.

I'm up for joining everyone for a light read this month. Has anyone thought of anything yet? I'll see if I can think of something maybe.

How about this for this month (maybe July/August since summer is usually crazy for people:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&... It looks different from the other novels we have read so far, and sounds like it would be a fun and uplifting summer read.
