I finished it last night. A lot went on. I think it will make for quite a discussion when all have finished....

I stayed up WAY too late last night finishing this book. Great suggestion--I really liked it. I felt the same about the ending; kind of left me wanting more explanation....

I finished the book on Thursday. The ending left me really confused. I saw the big twist coming, but I am not really sure what happened after that. Other than that, it was a very well-written novel.

I agree with everyone else about the end. I also agree with the comment about how much was packed into so few pages. Really liked it.

It seems like a bunch of us have finished, so *SPOILER ALERT* did anyone see any clues that she was going to kill her sister? Even in hindsight? And what do you think of the parallel between Iris and Alex and Esme and her sister? There's a ton of contrasts that are interesting.

I didn't see the killing coming. I saw the baby surprise coming...

I saw the baby surprise, but I was not exactly sure that she killed her sister. I thought the shock of seeing Esme and her guilt might have been what killed Kitty, but I was really confused at the end and might have missed the killing.

I thought she suffocated her with the pillow she was holding. Then she waited (not sure why, so enjoy what she thought would be peace?) to pull the cord for assistance. Maybe that's why the "sun never did go in", the feeling of resolution never came..?

It was the way she wrote about how she put the cushion back I think that leads us all to think she killed her. Honestly, I almost don't blame her. Kitty was incredibly selfish...

I did not see the killing coming....But God knows after all that I can't say that I blame her. The baby thing took me awhile to figure out who was who and what.

What I don't understand is why would Kitty leave Esme to Iris (so to speak)? If Kitty spent all those years hiding all this stuff and even going as far as to leave Esme in that home....well, why would she then put Iris's name down as the contact? Did she just figure she'd be dead and it wouldn't matter?

I think Kitty knew she would die before Esme. Also, deep down, I think Kitty felt guilty about what she had done and wanted Iris to know her real grandma.

ahhhhhhhh-ha! Got it. Very interesting book. And disturbing for some reason.
