New Jewelry, Journal Sheets & Fillmore Jazz Festival

This weekend is the Fillmore Jazz Festival in San Francisco. I'll be there, booth 1415 which is in the 1400 block of Fillmore between 10:00am & 6:00pm both Sat. & Sun.. Stop by and say hello and mention this post ... I'll give you 20% off your purchase!

Here is a pair of earrings and necklace made from hand blown glass beads. Really beautiful and because I only have a very limited number they will never make it on my web site. Instead you'll have to come see me at the festival this weekend. Or if you are quick you can email me at information@charmingsam.com. They are $34 each (plus tax in CA). FREE SHIPPING!!

I also finished a new journal sheet this week called Jerusalem Old City and you can get the complete details at my website in the journal sheets section. These are wonderful to use as note cards for thank yous, birthdays, etc.
Lastly, I am starting a new weekly email next week. It will include access to a free image each week for use in mixed media, art, scrap booking AND the chance to win a piece of jewelry. If you haven't been to my site and signed up for my newsletter then now is the time. (left column, pink box titled Mailing List)
Happy 4th!!

With Much Gratitude

I've been behind in all the things I want to blog about. Recently I was given two blog awards from two artists I greatly admire and respect.

1) Laurie Beth Beggin from The Looking Glass honored me with the "Arte Y Pico" Award which is The Creativity and Art Award. I am of course humbled that she thought of me for this and thank her for the kindness.
2) Sharon at Manamoon was kind enough to include me in her list of blogs for the Sweet Home Blogger Award. I can't say enough kind things about Sharon, she is very supportive of other artists and has the most wonderful jewelry. She is also a graphics artist so multi-talented!
Unfortunately I can't award these honors back to either artist so am choosing five of my favorite artists to receive both awards. I hope you find their work as inspirational as I do.
* Secret Leaves - I can't begin to describe the beauty of these handmade journals. Sharon has an amazing blog that you will find inspiration in abundance. Including her photo stream on Flickr that is beyond beautiful. *sigh*
* Christine Mason Miller - Her talent is as wide as it is tall. She can be whimsical or serious and in all respects simply wonderful art. Be sure to explore her blog, her Etsy store and the loads of other works on her site. I think you will be as amazed as I have been.
* Abigail A. Percy - Inspirational and talented her jewelry ROCKS. Beautiful, simple and sublime.
* Tartx - Tiffini Elektra X. - Her website is beautiful and her art work is wonderful.
* Cherry Coloured - My Secret Favorite Blog of all time! The blog is its own work of art.

My Kitty

On Friday I had to put my kitty of sixteen years to sleep. Over the last year or two he had been getting skinnier and skinnier until a couple of months ago he was down to 5 1/2 pounds. He was 11 pounds most of his life so he was just bones and fur. We took him to the vet in early April and after many vet visits determined that no one knew what was wrong and he would need exploratory surgery but probably wouldn't live through it.
He gained a pound or so and then about a month ago started loosing weight again. A week ago he was down to 3 1/2 pounds and Thursday of last week the vet said he was wasting away, his organs were starting to shut down and he was going blind. My husband brought my kitty home and we spent the night feeding him chicken, taking him outside and cuddling him. Thursday morning at 10:45am PST I held him while the vet administered euthanasia. He was gone in an instant. Here and then gone. Life is fleeting.

I will miss my kitty. My Takela (pronounced Tequila). Cat face. Bad cat. My baby kitty that I have had since he was 4 weeks old and so sick the vets didn't think he would live. He greeted me at the door, slept with me at night and sat in my studio with me during the day.

Scrap Lovers at A Work of Heart

I know most of you don't live in the Bay area BUT whether you are online or nearby ScrapLovers at A Work of Heart needs to be added to your to-do list. I'm not sure when the San Jose (Willow Glen) store opened but it is a combination retail outlet and working studio. Half the store can be used for working on your own projects, taking a class, participating in craft raves and learning new things from owners and customers. The other half of the store has just about every kind of gadget, gizmo, paper, etc you could possible want for your next project.

Don't let the name "Scrap" Lovers fool you, they are a Paper ARTS store and have a lot more than just scrapbooking supplies. The longer they are open the more they seem to be getting in to the paper arts, mixed media, collage, etc. And, a little bird told me yesterday that they are getting a kiln to start working with precious metal clay!!!

Anyway, the online store has everything the retail store has except the craft raves. But with all those wonderful supplies you can have your own craft rave. Orders over $65 get FREE shipping.
